With the inauguration of the Lee Jae-Myung administration, the security environment around the Korean Peninsula now faces a significant test. Since the failure of the Hanoi summit, North Korea has been continuously advancing and diversifying its nuclear capability, and has shown no response to any attempt at dialogue for resolving the nuclear issue. Additionally, the Russia-North Korea military cooperation, the war in Ukraine, and the conflicts in the Middle East further complicate the international environment surrounding the North Korean nuclear issue. This article aims to examine the current situation of North Korean nuclear issue, predict the direction of the Lee administration’s policy regarding North Korean nuclear issue, and propose policy measures to implement such a direction.
