President’s Greeting

We have established our status as national research institute based on constitutional principles.

KINU will continue to research and pursue common understanding on why we need unification, why we should protect liberal democracy, and why we should pursue peaceful unification based on liberal democracy.

KINU aims to become a national research institute that supports the implementation of national policies and seeks public understanding with a view to realize denuclearization, peace and prosperity.

Not only that, we will spare no effort in carrying out systemic research on how to achieve peace through denuclearization, improvement in inter-Korean relations, and follow-up measures after unification.

We will continue to improve the quality of our research by creating a science-based climate for our studies, upgrading research materials on a regular basis, and strengthening a researh network with experts and relevant agencies.

We are seeing a fundamental and serious change in the international situation. This shift is much more fundamental than the one we witnessed during the Cold War era in the early 1990s. A new era is unfolding as we see North Korea’s nuclear armament, the reemergence of the Cold War, the reorganization of military and geopolitical dynamics, and digital transformation, which is a dramatic shift in the history of civilization. The era we are in is bringing about the most fundamental and uncertain change in human history. These changes will have a profound impact of the development of Korea as a whole and the lives of the public.

KINU will do everything it can to make sure this huge flow will be on our side, helping our country to propel for the future.
