Inauguration Ceremony for the 20th KINU President Kwon Man-Hak
The Korea Institute for National Unification held the inauguration ceremony for its 20th president, Kwon Man-Hak, on July 1, 2026. In his inaugural address, President Kwon, Professor Emeritus at Kyung Hee University, expressed his commitment to creating an institute where the dedication of its members is respected and fairly recognized. He also stated his ambition to build KINU into a policy research institute that leads the spirit of the times and presents a vision for peace and the future of the Korean Peninsula, while striving for fair and transparent organizational management, innovation to strengthen research capacity, and the creation of a stable research environment.
President Kwon earned his B.A. in Diplomacy from Seoul National University and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Texas in the United States. He has served as a member of the Presidential Commission on Policy Planning, a member of the Korea-Germany Unification Advisory Committee under the Ministry of Unification, Vice President of the Korean Political Science Association, an advisory member of the Unification, Foreign Affairs and National Security Subcommittee of the Presidential Transition Committee, and a policy advisory member of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
